This weekend was pretty full for me and the cameras…my boos! Let’s see… I had this, that, the in-between, and those over there. Part of ‘this’ was being an official photographer for the Sakura Matsuri (the nation’s largest Japanese Street Festival) sponsored by the Japan-America Society of Washington, DC. I love festivals. I love culture. And I love good food. Oh, and I LOVE being paid to do and be around things I love. I should write a blog about when your passion and purpose makes pennies. Lol
Anyways… I had a great time!
Although I was there on assignment, I was able to grab a few costume pictures on my way out … on the way to ‘that.’ Getting off the train and seeing people dressed like it was Halloween was pretty weird at first, but I didn’t pay it much mind because you can really see anything here in DC. I was happy to know they were going to the same place as I.
The pictures: I’m pretty unfamiliar with the characters from the various Japanese series, but I really enjoyed seeing people dressed up. Some were really shy but others were not only in costume, but also in full character… displaying special powers and all. I even saw a few cosmic sword fights and one guy really put a beating on the air in front of him.
What I liked the most was how everyone was happy and the energy was high! These images didn’t come out as well as I wanted, but they are fun so I’m sharing anyway!
Hope you enjoy!
Today, I’m thankful for fun times and enjoyment…oh and for the pennies! God bless.
I’ve never heard of this event. Cool pics! Oh, yeah, you should definitely write that post about your passion making pennies 😉
My little sister would have loved this! She’s already getting her anime costume ready for the next conference!
