Glynn Jackson is as hardworking and dedicated to his work as he is fashion forward (have you seen his style?). His passion may be even larger than his personality. As the founder and creator of the 23rd Annual Golden Scissors Awards, Jackson gave the world yet another chance last night to see for themselves.
With the theme ‘Hair Games 2014: Let The Games Begin,’ the Golden Scissors awards wowed the audience and took them on a personal voyage into the creative minds of some of the most artistic individuals in America. From the simple and concise, to outrageously built for the runway, the stylists brought something for every lover of hair fashion.
The 2014 Bobbi Boss America’s Next Top Stylist Awards were also last night and the top four finalists were Robert Grant of Pasadena, CA; Janel Sealey-Smith of NY-NJ-PA; Tarina Akbari of Jacksonville, FL; and Shivonne J of Houston, TX. They were all winners in my book! Special shoutout to Janel Sealey-Smith for winning the 2014 Bobbi Boss America’s Next Top Stylist Award!
Other competitions included: the BOBBI BOSS® Consumer Competition, the Golden Scissors Awards Live Stage Competition, the Afro Kinky Competition, the Barber Total Look Competition, and the Braid Competition.
Beauty icons from around the globe were also recognized last night: Chet Bennett — the owner of the Bennett Career Institute in Washington, D.C.; Ron Jemison, Sr. — the owner of Franklin Beauty School in Houston, Texas; Brenton Lee — the owner of Brenton Lee Salon and Studio in Pasadena, Calif.; Jasmine “Razor Chic” Collins of Atlanta, Ga.; celebrity hairstylist Tre’Major of Los Angeles, Calif: Vernon Martin of Washington, D.C.
